Many booking apps charge a commission when their marketplace sends you a new client. Here’s how it works, what the main platforms charge, and what to look for.
Most UK booking platforms make money in two ways: a monthly subscription, and a commission on new clients who find you through their marketplace. The commission is usually a percentage of the first booking, so it comes straight out of the appointment you worked hardest to win.
When a new customer discovers you through a platform’s app or website and books, the platform charges a one-off fee on that booking. Bookings from your own clients, your own website or your own social media links are usually not charged commission.
These figures are taken from each provider’s public pricing page on 15 October 2026. Prices change, so always check the provider for current terms.
| Platform | New-client commission | Monthly price |
|---|---|---|
| Booksy | One-time 30% of the first visit (minimum £5) when the optional Boost feature is on | £40 per month plus VAT, plus £5 per month per extra user |
| Fresha | 20% one-time commission on new marketplace clients, with a minimum fee per client | Paid monthly plans |
| Treatwell | 35% on first bookings from new marketplace clients (subject to location), plus VAT on fees | Monthly fee |
| Bookuro | 0% on every booking, including new clients from the Bookuro app | Free to join now; £30 per month when paid plans start |
